Clubs
In addition to the teaching and learning that takes place everyday, our school organises clubs throughout the year which take place at lunchtime and after school. Our clubs are run by staff and specialist sports coaches. These clubs enable our pupils to enjoy a wide range of activities and experiences such as Sports, Music, Art and Dance. See the clubs schedule below:
All future sporting events will be found in Events.
For the last four years prior to the pandemic, we have received the School Games Gold Award for our sports provision, skills development and participation in competitions and tournaments. We compete against other schools in Redbridge.
The School Games organisation have now introduced a platinum award which can be achieved by receiving the gold for 4 years running. We are proud to have achieved the platinum award last year.
Using our Sports Premium funding, we have expanded our extra-curricular provision to all of our pupils in Years 3 – 6 to access a wider variety of sports. This has enabled us to hire sports coaches to run lunchtime clubs and organise inter-school competitions. This has been a huge success with our pupils who have shown great enthusiasm for learning new sports such as handball, dodgeball and rounders.
We recently extended this provision to include lower key stage pupils and introduced a special weekly PE session for our SEND children.
Many pupils at Goodmayes, participate in music clubs and activities such as Choir, Orchestra and individual instrumental tuition.
We celebrate the children’s achievements through their participation in assemblies and events such as our annual music concert, carol concert and participating in the Redbridge Schools Choral Festival at the Royal Albert Hall every other year. One of our pupils represented our school at the Redbridge Music School Woodwind Festival.
Every year before the pandemic, we run a programme to train pupils as sports mentors. They develop leadership skills through supporting the running of clubs, sporting events and Sports Days.
