In addition to the teaching and learning that takes place everyday, our school organises clubs throughout the year which take place at lunchtime and after school.  Our clubs are run by staff and specialist sports coaches.  These clubs enable our pupils to enjoy a wide range of activities and experiences such as Sports, Music, Art and Dance.  See the clubs schedule below:

All future sporting events will be found in Events.

For the last two years we have received the School Games Gold Award for our sports provision, skills development and participation in competitions and tournaments.  We compete against other schools in Redbridge and have also represented Redbridge at the London Games in the Basketball Competitions over the last few years and last year in the Tri Golf Competition.

The School Games organisation has recently introduced a platinum award which can be achieved by receiving the gold for 4 years running.  We are determined to achieve this in 2 years’ time!

In 2016 we successfully applied for Lottery funding to enable all of our pupils in Years 3 – 6 to access a wider variety of sports.  This has enabled us to hire sports coaches to run lunchtime clubs and organise inter-school competitions.  This has been a huge success with our pupils who have shown great enthusiasm for learning new sports such as handball, dodgeball and rounders.

We will be using our Sports Premium funding to continue providing these lunchtime clubs and in January 2018 we extended this provision to include Year 2 pupils.

In Art Club, we have lots of fun creating art work using our imagination and experimenting with different mediums.

Many pupils at Goodmayes, participate in music clubs and activities such as Guitar Club, Choir, Orchestra and individual instrumental tuition.

We celebrate the children’s achievements through their participation in assemblies and events such as our annual music concert, carol concert and participating in the Redbridge Schools Choral Festival at the Royal Albert Hall every other year. One of our pupils represented our school at the Redbridge Music School Woodwind Festival.

Every year we run a programme to train pupils as club mentors.  They develop leadership skills through supporting the running of clubs and sporting events. Each term, they receive Bronze, Silver and Gold awards when they meet leadership standards.
