D&T
At Goodmayes Primary school we teach the D&T curriculum with appropriate subject knowledge, skills and understanding as set out in the National Curriculum. Design and Technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. It is a subject that encourages children to learn to think creatively and develops children’s problem-solving skills both independently and as part a team. Through D&T lessons taught at Goodmayes Primary, children are encouraged to use their creativity and imagination, to design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values. Children to develop their skills in D&T lessons as well as in lessons also linked with other subject areas such as Mathematics, Science, Computing and Art. The children are also given opportunities to reflect upon and evaluate past and present design technology, its uses and its effectiveness and are encouraged to become innovators and risk-takers.
