  • LO: To locate an area on a map
  • To use a map to study location of school.
  • Have an ariel view map of Goodmayes. Can children identify where this is? What do they notice about the school? How do they know?
  • Discuss what things are around them. identify and label the different areas on an ariel map.

  • LO: To use map for fieldwork
  • Recap on the grounds of Goodmayes from yesterday and go for a walk around the school. Can children follow the map and see where things are? Has location of anything changed? if so why and if not why not and why can it not change.

  • Have children draw a map from the walk and see if they can plot the playground school etc on their map.
  • Have pictures for children who need help to place them in the right place.

  • Go over the map that they have plotted. Discuss what is physical and what is human. Can they think of other things that are similar.

  • Look at places of worship and where they are located on a map. Place them on a map
