Goodmayes Primary School is closed except for children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 6, and also for children of parents who are critical/key workers.

The purpose of closing the schools is to protect the community and the government have made it clear that headteachers must adhere to this instruction. We are also open for those parents who we have already contacted; whose child has an EHC Plan or who is classed as ‘vulnerable’ and has a social worker.

The government have also stated:

Many parents working in these (key worker) sectors may be able to ensure their child is kept at home. And every child who can be safely cared for at home should be’

Children who are not at school should not mix socially in a way which can continue to spread the virus. They should observe the same social distancing principles as adults.

Teachers will be caring for the children that are in the categories above during the school closure. However, they will also take time to update the learning packs that were sent home for your children as long as they are fit to do so. I know you will be understanding during this difficult time and will recognise that by providing the childcare needed, teachers and school staff are themselves key workers in enabling others to contribute to the requirements of the nation.
