Outcome
- Grid referencing
- Look at 4 and 6 grid references points and understand what they are. Look at maps with these reference points. Teacher can set a quiz to find certain parts of areas on the map using the grid references.
- Grid References: 4-Figure & 6-Figure – History Class (Video) | Study.com
Outcome
- Use grid referencing in the locality
- Do a fieldwork in the local area.
- Children using previous days knowledge go and find areas in the locality using grid references.
- Children can take photographs of what they see in preparation of creating their own 3d style map.
Outcome
- Creating a map using symbols and keys
- Create a map of Goodmayes thinking about symbols and keys that they can use.
- Challenge children to create a map that other children can use like year 1 and use visuals and observations from the day before.
Outcome
- Comparing locations
- Look at where Danbury is in relation to Goodmayes using Google Earth and ariel pictures. How is it different to Goodmayes. What would they expect to find there.
Outcome
- To use Orienteering to follow directions
- Follow a map of Danbury and see if they can follow directions to different areas.
- Play a form of treasure hunting and children find different clues to go to the next part of a location. The first one to find the end location is the winner. Can they follow a map ?
